My Story

Many of my clients have mentioned that I’m not what they had pictured after meeting me. They see my face on billboards or social media and think I’m the typical lawyer. The biggest compliment I get from clients is that I am different from what they expected.

Growing up, my parents owned a boat repair shop. As a teenager, I was working on boats in the summer heat between two-a-day football practices. I learned firsthand the physical struggle many of my clients’ experience as they fight to provide for their family.

After turning 21, I spent over a decade in public service. There were instances where I had to physically fight for the lives of those victimized by truly evil people. I’ve had to wrestle guns and knives away from people who were bent on doing harm to others. Never once did I back down. When the bullets flew my direction, I moved towards them. I have taken this mentality into the practice of law.

Prior to opening my own law practice, I had the pleasure of working with a group of very good and successful attorneys. One thing many people do not realize is that when you pass the bar, you still have no idea how to practice law. Learning the practice of law is incredibly difficult and stressful. I am forever grateful of the amount of time and effort these attorneys spent teaching me the practice of law. Without their mentorship, today I wouldn’t be able to provide the same quality of representation to my clients.

As my knowledge and confidence in practicing law grew, so did a calling to open my own law practice. Once I knew I had the resources and war chest to provide excellent representation to my clients without compromise, I opened J. Dunn, Injury Law. It is my vision to change how personal injury law is practiced.
